Azerbaijan – on Iran’s northern border – is developing increasingly close relationships with Israel, the US and other western countries – a move which is unsettling Tehran. And should any war break out against the Islamic Republic, it is likely to involve Azerbaijan which could set the whole of the troubled South Caucasus region ablaze.
IF ISRAEL decides to go ahead with its long-threatened strike against Iran, seeking to put an end to the Islamic Republic’s presumed nuclear ambitions, the potential consequences will be greater than just the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and a soaring increase in the price of oil.
