Egypt's President Morsi moves to a pragmatic policy on Israel

For the first time since its foundation in Egypt in 1928, the Muslim Brotherhood is facing the dilemma experienced by many opposition forces when trying to reconcile ideological doctrines with the reality of power. President Mohamed Morsi, faced with a struggling economy in the wake of the 2011 revolution and in need of help from the US, is toning down anti-Israeli rhetoric and has said he will honour the 1979 peace treaty with Israel.
