Turkey’s elections will give pointer to its future

After more than a decade of relative stability, Turkey is being rocked by corruption scandals involving the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and several of his cabinet. The government has responded with crackdowns on a one-time ally and new laws covering freedom of speech and the appointment of judges. Elections at the end of the month may indicate how this will pan out.

TURKEY faces three elections over the next 18 months, while the government battles corruption charges and increasing voter apathy.
