Growing Russian nationalism provokes attacks on immigrants
Two-thirds of Russians believe the number of immigrants should be reduced. Marches in cities across the nation bring together extremist elements from a variety of organisations, some of whom make Nazi salutes. Unless the Kremlin takes a firm stand against street violence aimed at the ‘foreigners’, the increasing hostility towards migrants will become the paramount feature of the political landscape.
