
Dr. Nicola Casarini
GIS GUEST EXPERT Nicola Casarini is Associate Fellow for East Asia at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and member of the Editorial Board of The International Spectator. He is currently Associate Fellow at the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris, after having been a Senior Analyst at the EUISS between September 2010 and December 2013. Prior to this, he was Marie Curie Research Fellow (2008-2010) and Jean Monnet Fellow (2006-2007) at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. He holds a Laurea (BA) in Political Science from the University of Bologna, a Diplome d'études superieures (MPhil) from the Graduate Institute of International Studies (GIIS) in Geneva and a PhD in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His research interests focus on EU-China and EU-East Asia relations, Chinese foreign policy, East Asia's security, and global governance. He has studied and conducted field research in China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia.
